Door Supervision (alcohol-based)

Depending on your working hours and job role, SIA Licence holders can earn between £12 - £20 per hour, or more.

Running over 5 consecutive days with distant learning, the course is divided into 4 units. It covers everything from the most up-to-date physical intervention techniques to the legal aspects of security work.


  • Unit 1: Working in The Private Security Industry
  • Unit 2: Working as a Door Supervisor
  • Unit 3: Conflict Management for The Private Security Industry
  • Unit 4: Physical Intervention Skills for The Private Security Industry

Once you have completed your course, your certificate will be emailed or posted to you within 7-working days. Following that, just complete these simple steps:


1) Complete the licence application on the SIA website.

If you need help, our friendly team are always on hand to advise.


2) Complete identity checks.

The SIA will need you to verify your identity via photographic ID. This can easily be done at the Post Office.


3) Submit your application to the SIA.

The SIA will run a CRB (check) on your criminal record and verify that you are who say, otherwise known as an identity verification. This check goes back at least five years in history. If you have lived outside of the UK for more than 6 months, you may have to provide additional supporting evidence.


4) Get your SIA License in the post.

Congratulations! You’re now a fully licensed Door Supervisor for the next 3 years!

As an SIA licence holder, you will be permitted to work in:


  • Corporate
  • TV and film sets
  • Nightclubs
  • Retail
  • Businesses
  • Festivals and events

The main difference is that a Door Supervisor CAN work as a Security Guard, but a Security Guard CANNOT work as a Door Supervisor. This is because of the level of training. The first 3 units of the courses are the same, but the Door Supervisor Course has an additional unit: Physical Intervention.

CCTV Operator Training

  • Unit 3: Practical Use of CCTV Systems


Please note: You will have to pass 2 exams at the end of the course. But don’t worry! The course is very detailed, and your instructor will give you everything you need to pass with flying colours.

SIA Top-Up Training

The SIA upskilling course is for Door Supervisors who need to renew their licence after 1st October 2021. With our Upskilling Course, you will gain all the extra skills that come with the recently updated Door Supervisor course, helping you to enhance your security skills. The course takes place over 2 days and costs just £100.

As of April 2021, several changes have been introduced to SIA Licensing. If you need to renew your licence after 1st October 2021, taking this Top-Up course will be mandatory to continue working as a licensed security professional.

The course runs for over 2 days. Besides serving as a top-up course, you will gain invaluable new skills including:


  • Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry (assessed by theory and exam).
  • Principles of Using Equipment as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry (assessed by theory, practical and exam).
  • Application of Physical Intervention in the Private Security Industry (assessed by theory, practical and exam).


The Top-Up Training is a mix of written exams and practical assessments based on the new skills you will learn.


Please note: as of April 2021, you must hold The First Aid At Work (EFAW) qualification before applying for your SIA Top-Up Training.

Once you have completed your course, your certificate will be emailed or posted to you within 7-working days. Following that, just complete these simple steps:


1) Complete the license application on the SIA website.

Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) Course

Our Level 2 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) course will equip you with all the skills you need to react with confidence in situations where someone sustains an injury or falls ill. The course takes place over a single day and costs just £TBC.

As of 1st April 2021, all Security Guards must have an Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) certificate or higher. For more information, see the other reasons include;


  • Take charge in emergency situations.
  • Proactively prevent incidents.
  • Bolster your existing security skills.
  • Keep the public safe.

Our EFAW First Aid Training Course prepares you for emergency situations. Your training will cover the following:


  • Taking charge and summoning help
  • Priorities in First Aid
  • Controlling Bleeding
  • Epilepsy
  • Poisoning
  • Burns and Scalds


*The course is assessed by in-class participation. There is no exam at the end.

Now that you have your EFAW qualification, you can now legally apply for future SIA Top-Up Training. 


Please note: you can not apply for your SIA Top-Up Training without first obtaining your EFAW certificate.
